Beverage R&D Barista (Product Development)
Barista-R&D hybrid to invent, test, and standardize matchas, smoothies & iced lattes. Prototype on real bar gear, batch & cost, write simple SOPs, and lead tastings.
One-liner: Barista-first creator who invents and standardizes matchas, smoothies, iced lattes, and refreshers—then turns them into simple, bar-ready SOPs for our cafés.
What you’ll do
Prototype & formulate: Create new iced lattes, matcha drinks, smoothies, frappés, cold foams, refreshers, and seasonal drops using real bar gear (espresso machine, grinders, blender, shaker).
Standardize & document: Lock recipes (grams/ml/ice, build order, garnish). Write clear SOP cards and quick how-to clips that any barista can follow.
Batching & prep: Develop house syrups/purées/bases; specify yields, par levels, storage/rotation, and simple café handling (≤60–90s builds).
Taste-first validation: Run staff/guest tastings, gather feedback, iterate fast, and finalize only when flavor + look hit the mark.
Cost & feasibility: Keep flavors high while staying within given cost targets; suggest smart swaps without “food-science” complexity.
Handover to cafés: Train bar leads on new items; support first weeks of rollout and troubleshoot.
Trend scouting: Track regional/global beverage trends (matcha grades, alt-milks, texture, layered visuals) and pitch monthly concepts.
What you’ll bring
2–5 years as a barista/head barista with hands-on beverage creation (not just service).
Strong skills across espresso, matcha (proper prep & pairing), blender builds, shaking/stirring, dilution/ice control, layering, and garnish.
A palate for balance (sweet/acid/bitter/salt) and an eye for Instagram-ready presentation.
Clear communicator who documents simply; comfortable training others.
Basic costing/portioning and solid hygiene/food-safety habits.
English required; Arabic a plus.
Nice to have
Zero-proof/cocktail bar experience; nitro/cold brew; cold-foam systems.
POS familiarity (e.g., Foodics) and basic Excel/Sheets.
Comfortable shooting quick phone photos/reels of new drinks.
